  •  changes resulting from the aging process

Food plays an important role in our health. If you or someone you care for is experiencing a transition from one phase of life to another, let me help you navigate the way to a healthier eating pattern that fits with your lifestyle and preferences.

A little about me…..

Hi, I am Laurie Terwilliger, Registered Dietitian and owner of Nutritious Transitions.

My interest in nutrition and health began as a teenager when I embraced the concept of “you are what you eat” and continued to learn about how foods can affect our health. I used this knowledge and passion for nutrition to guide my personal eating habits and those of my family while pursuing a career in science and education.  I didn’t adopt nutrition as a profession until family members began developing health issues. Knowing that nutrition plays an important role in reducing risks for many diseases, I decided to change paths and become a dietitian.

Over the past ten years as a dietitian, I have been helping people increase their self-confidence in making lifestyle changes that result in a better quality of life. Making successful changes to improve health requires knowledge, skills, and sometimes a willingness to try new things.

Change is hard. Having to deal with a life or health transition can be overwhelming and lead to confusion, particularly when it comes to nutrition information and advice. My passion is to guide you through this uncertainty and emerge more confident and with better health.

Being a dietitian has allowed me to work with people of all ages in various settings including nursing homes, hospitals, community clinics, and community colleges. From my years of experience in nutrition counseling and as an educator, I believe that what we eat and drink has a profound effect on our health, and that times of transition have the greatest effect upon our ability to maintain good nutritional health. Working together, we will establish a nurturing and positive relationship with all foods and avoid labeling foods and personal behavior as “good” or “bad”.
